Information Reception and Production: Media Education against Discrimination – A guide for teens

In this module the news reports – from the newspapers’ article to the newscast – are understood as as particular ‘representations have been designed primarily as a special ' representations of reality' socially constructed through specific practices of journalistic production. In the analysis section of the module the first two units dwell on the relationship between ' journalistic representations ' and ' interpretations of reality ' (or worldviews) and then on the stereotyping techniques more employed in the news reports . The other three units of the first section focus on the identification and deconstruction of stereotypes regarding gender , ethnicity, race and disability in the news items.
