Open call for speakers: Youth Talks

17 August 2022

Apply by 28 of August to take part in our Youth Talks to make your voice heard!

Throughout the European Year of Youth 2022, the European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency are organising Youth Talks as part of various large-scale European events. Youth Talks are inspiring speeches for young people by young people, performed in front of a live audience, streamed online, and recorded. The final video recording will be subtitled in 28 languages, and will be shared on the EU Academy platform as part of the General Online Training for the European Solidarity Corps.

The organisers are currently looking for speakers aged 18–35 to share their unique stories at the Level Up – Accelerating Change event in Brussels, held on 28-29 October 2022.

The themes for this round of Youth Talks are related to Democracy.

  • Have you developed an innovative project to foster media literacy? Do you know what makes communication fair and transparent?
  • Do you have experience running a successful advocacy campaign? Have you made a change by engaging policy makers?
  • Do you master community building, active participation, or volunteering?
  • …or do you have another story related to Democracy?

Before applying…

Becoming a speaker at the Youth Talks takes time and energy. Selected speakers participate in an online coaching process which lasts about 4-6 weeks. Speakers receive training, preparation, and support from a professional coach to improve their public speaking skills and find their unique storyteller voice. It is not only a talk, but also a learning experience.

If you have an inspiring story to tell and you feel like joining this learning journey, please fill out the application form here and upload a one-minute video introducing yourself and your story by 23:59 on 28 August 2022.
