This online article is based on Eurostat data, presenting some of the most recent statistics on the situation of children and young people in the European Union (EU).
It is meant to be an easy-to-understand resource for all those interested how young people navigate in the digital world, being part of the larger Eurostat publication “Being young in Europe today” divided into seven chapters covering population, family and society, health, education, access to and participation in the labour market, living conditions and the digital world.

The digital world article particularly offers a perspective on issues such as: the digital divide – referring to the access to Internet and technology, the use of technology based on the level of education and more; information and technology skills – presenting information related to how youth is performing compared to other age groups or how youth is performing in specific areas; youth online a way of life – reflects on how youth engage with the Internet, for what type of activities and purposes.
The article allows also an in-depth exploration of various Eurostat datasets, for those interested in specific sub-topics.
