Description
Democracy Reloading helps municipalities engage young people in decision-making
through tools, training, and support. It provides support to municipal authorities in designing and implementing youth participation in municipal decisions and in using Erasmus+ funds to improve it.
What is one thing about democratic participation that everyone should know?
Young people are interested in community issues and public life if they are asked the right questions if they are offered adequate spaces and adequate structures, if they are supported and respected, if they are really listened to, and if their opinions and ideas are taken into real consideration. The usual mistake we observe is that municipalities offer young people something that lacks transparency, meaning and impact, sustainability or mutual respect, something that is not based on their needs and visions.
Why is it important that Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps programmes promote participation in democratic life?
As young people are in the best position to learn from the mistakes that we are making today, they are the onse who can make corrections and do it better.
How is your LTA/SNAC supporting this?
Democracy Reloading helps you to understand the core principles of a meaningful and sustainable youth participation and to build the road to create the optimal strategy and structure for it. Democracy Reloading also provides a safe space for sharing the challenges and achievements of this complex learning journey. Our educational tools reflect the diverse needs of different roles and states of development, so the tools and activities can support municipal staff, local political representatives, youth workers and youth representatives.
