Description

  • EuroApprentices are former Erasmus+ participants who now act as ambassadors. Through their personal and authentic perspectives, they showcase the benefits of international mobility in VET and inspire others to follow similar paths.
  • They organise local and regional activities – such as information sessions, school visits or networking events – to promote Erasmus+ in VET and bring the European idea to life in their communities

Summary video

  • What is one thing about democratic participation that everyone should know?

Training young people in democratic participation is an investment in the sustainability, inclusiveness, and resilience of democracy itself.

Why is it important that Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps programmes promote participation in democratic life?

It is important that Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) promote participation in democratic life because democracy in the EU depends on active, informed, and engaged citizens—especially young people. These programmes are not only mobility or volunteering schemes; they are tools to strengthen European democracy at local, national, and European levels.

VET learners often have fewer opportunities for civic education and political debate than university students. Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps therefore play a key role in ensuring equal access to democratic participation, strengthening inclusion, representation and democratic resilience across Europe. Our LTA offers training on civic education to VET ambassadors and offers opprtunities to participate. Moreover the ambasadors act as multipliers for European values in their local communities.

How is your LTA/SNAC supporting this?

  • International EuroApprentices meeting:
takes place once a year, centered on skills development, networking opportunities and understanding Erasmus+ priorities.
  • In Pursuit of democracy:
centred on gaining deeper knowledge of European Union including a visit to European Parliament and traning on media literacy
  • National Training and Meetings:
Focused on enhancing competencies and fostering networking among Ambassadors.
  • Individual Activities:
Give a voice by enabling their participation in events with decision-makers such as European Youth Event or other seminars organised within the LTA P.E.A.C.E
  • Give them the opportunity and the space to create their own channels and projects, such as a podcast German Eas host or different Instragram channels being hosted by EuroApprentices (see list below)

What are some results of your LTA/SNAC you want to share Participation Pool readers?

What would you tell to organisations who want to start working with this topic?

Participation and involvement of young people requires time and ressources and the structures and opportunities and it is definitely worth it. Starting with small steps is helpful.
