Engage Youth platform
Year of production: 2026
The Engage Youth Platform is a digital tool that supports youth workers, practitioners, public authorities, organisations and other stakeholders in planning and implementing meaningful youth participation processes. It helps users move beyond ad hoc or tokenistic consultation by identifying participation mechanisms that correspond to their local context, objectives and available resources.
The platform combines self-assessment, practical guidance and planning tools to support the design of structured, inclusive and sustainable youth engagement processes. Additionally, it can be used when developing new participation initiatives.
What does the platform include?
Self-assessment tool
The platform includes a free online self-assessment questionnaire that helps users reflect on their local youth participation needs, objectives and implementation capacity. Based on the responses provided, the platform recommends participation mechanisms that are best suited to the identified context, target groups and expected outcomes.
Action plan template
To support implementation, the platform provides a customisable action plan template. Users can adapt it to their organisational capacity, project timeline, available resources and priorities, helping them translate recommendations into concrete actions. The template also supports planning responsibilities, milestones and indicators for monitoring progress and evaluating impact.
Knowledge hub
The platform features a collection of practical resources on youth participation, including publications, guidelines, videos and other learning materials. The knowledge hub introduces different approaches to structured participation and provides examples and resources that can support practitioners in designing and facilitating participation processes.
How does it work?
- Register – Create a free account to access the platform, save assessment results, monitor progress and manage multiple participation processes over time.
- Assess – Complete a short questionnaire about the purpose of the engagement process, the local context, target groups, available resources and intended outcomes.
- Explore – Receive recommendations on participation mechanisms that best correspond to your objectives, context and implementation capacity.
- Plan – Use the customisable action plan template to organise activities, responsibilities, timelines, resources and indicators for monitoring and evaluation.
Who is the platform for?
The platform is intended for youth workers, local and regional authorities, civil society organisations, educators, project coordinators and other stakeholders involved in designing or supporting youth participation processes. It is suitable for users with different levels of experience and can be applied in a variety of local contexts.
About the platform
The Engage Youth Platform was developed by the DYPALL Network together with the partners of the Climbing the Ladder: Fostering a Culture of Youth Engagement (CL-YE) project. The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme and aims to strengthen the quality and sustainability of youth participation practices across Europe.
