Online Youth Activism. The power of the hashtag

Year of production: 2020

WeBalkans video presents an online event featuring Europe’s brightest young leaders, who, through a number of creative means, have contributed to social change movements across the globe in areas such as human rights, the environment, digital technologies, journalism, international relations, and gender equality. The video can provide youth workers and young people with examples of how digital technologies can be used in the context of social movement.

The WeBalkans offers insights into technology’s potential as a driver of positive change, and that online tools (including social media platforms) may be used to transform daring ideas into realities. Th event was organized by the Young European Ambassadors (YEA) platform – a creative network of future young game changers from across the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia).

Young European Ambassadors (YEA)

The Young European Ambassadors (YEA) platform is a creative network of future young game changers from across the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia). YEAs come from different backgrounds, yet they all share a common vision: the Western Balkans united in diversity, learning about each other and EU together, pursuing creative projects, acquiring new skills, connecting via social media, organising inspiring events – always driven by the idea that activism in youth is the most powerful force of social change.
