Join the Online Panel “Digital Well-Being”, 31 January 2023

17 January 2023

Digital technologies and the online world have a significant impact on the well-being of young people. With increasing amounts of time spent online, for social media, gaming or formal and non-formal education and activities it is important that digital well-being is taken into account when designing and rolling out the digital transformation.

This is the vital subject coming up for the fourth in the series of six panels hosted by SALTO Participation & Information Resource Centre (SALTO PI) and SALTO Inclusion and Diversity Resource Centre (SALTO I&D).

Join us for the online panel “Digital Well-Being”, on Tuesday 31 January, 13:00 CET

With three experts in the field of digital well-being, this panel will delve into the latest academic research on the topic and hear from the speakers – themselves academics and youth workers – with in-depth knowledge of digital well-being. During the panel discussion, they will discuss the importance of digital well-being and how digital transformation can ensure the well-being of young people.

What is it?
The impact of growing up in a fully digital age has not yet been fully evaluated. But it is clear that for young people today their well-being, especially their mental health, is influenced by a life lived online. Digital well-being can be defined as the ongoing impact of digital technologies and digital processes on the mental, physical and emotional health of people. Whilst we may not yet be able to predict how digital technologies will impact the well-being of young people in the long term, it is vital that we continue to analyse and respond to any arising challenges and opportunities related to digital well-being. And young people’s well-being ought to be a priority when designing digital tools and services.
